Little Stories (1)
During the first presentation of long case in our medical posting. We had been influenced by Dr Ng so much that over half of us were interested in doing paediatrics. (Nahh I'm undecided)
Friend A : Mr X, a 38-year-old Malay boy was presented with...
Alright that's just the beginning. It's Friday today and the class had gone hmm. Hilarious. Maybe everyone had been making it an enjoyable one.
B presenting a case of dengue fever. Q&A session after the presentation.
Friend C: So did the patient mention she came from rural area or kampung area?
(Whole class burst into laughter. Friend C noticed what's wrong. Buried his head in embarassment.)
Friend B: Hmm I asked the patient but the patient doesn't really know the area, just moved in a week ago.
Friend D: Any rodents around the house?
Friend E: Any recent fogging?
Friend F: Any recent dengue cases diagnosed?
Doctor : Any empty tyre or cans around the house?
Friend B: (Silent for 2 seconds.) The patient doesn't really know the area, just moved in a week ago.
Annoyed friend D : Then what did she know? =.=
Friend G wanted to ask something.
Friend G: Any retroorbital pain - pain behind the ears?
(Whole class burst into laughter again.)
Dr questioned about investigation we would like to order. Someone voiced out checking haemoglobin. Dr agreed and asked why.
Friend B thought for few seconds, didn't answer anything and raised her right eyebrow towards the doctor.
Doctor : Ehh angkat kening pulakkk
(Whole class burst into laughter again.)
Second presenter, friend J was presenting about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Friend K: Did you question the patient about his technique of using the metered dose inhaler?
Friend J: Yea. He inhale while pressing the inhaler and counted for 10 seconds.
Doctor: That's a bit too long. Normally 5 seconds will be enough. That's why la he got acute exacerbation of COPD.
Me : Doctor, so holding breath for too long may actually cause exacerbation of COPD? (excited)
Doctor: No la! Just joking.
=.=
Friend K proceeded to physical examination presentation.
Friend K: On examination, the patient was sitting up comfortably with two pillows..
Doctor : Sitting up or lying down?
(Whole class burst into laughter again.)
PS: Sorry to bore you with these medical stuffs though hahaa :p was working on other things recently hewhew
